Kid's Pattern Design & Bag-Making Workshop

January 2024

A workshop where your child will learn new artistic skills and make their own draw-string backpack using fabric printed with their own unique designs.

Workshop Outline

Day 1, Monday

Learn how to draw fun and artistic motifs that could work well on fabric design. This will be a day of art experimenting, learning how to draw simple elements, and using nature to create art.

Day 2, Tuesday

Discover what a repeat pattern is and how they work. Learn how to create your own repeating pattern by implementing the artistic skills and techniques learnt from Day One.

Wednesday (NO WORKSHOP)

Rest Day! On Wednesday we will get the children's pattern designs printed onto fabric so that we can continue the sewing aspect of the workshop the next day. Each child will receive 1m of printed fabric. Please note that at the end of the worshop, you will have the option to order more of your child's custom designed fabric at an additional cost.

Day 3, Thursday

Backpack making day! Children will cut out the necessary pattern pieces required to make their backpack of choice (options listed below), learn basic needlework skills and create any other necessary accessories for their bag (pompom tails etc.).

Day 4, Friday

Finish assembling the backpacks and finalise all decorating.

4-Day Workshop

Dates: 8th, 9th, 11th and 12th January 2024
Daily Times: 10am-12pm
Location: Pinelands, Cape Town

Cost: R1500 per child

The workshop fee includes:
• 4 Days of creative activity and artistic skill development.
• The cost of all fabric, sewing and art supplies.
• 1m of fabric printed per child with their own unique design.

Age limit: 7 years and older.
